John Bluem
Ohio State Head Coach/Crew Juniors Director of Continuing Education

Head coach John Bluem completed his ninth season at the helm of the Ohio State men's soccer program in 2005. Last season he became the school's all-time wins leader and now has 90 victories at OSU. Bluem has guided the Buckeyes to all four of the program's NCAA tournament appearances.

With a record of 90-70-20 at OSU, he owns a school-record .557 winning percentage. Owning a career record of 176-97-32 in 14 seasons as a head coach, Bluem ranks 31st on the NCAA Div. I winningest active coaches list (.635).

Since his arrival at Ohio State in 1997, he has led the Buckeyes to at least 10 wins in seven of his nine seasons and to the NCAA tournament in 2000, 2001, 2004 and 2005. In 2004, OSU tied the program record for wins (12) and advanced to the third round of the NCAA tournament, marking the furthest the Buckeyes have ever advanced in postseason play.

Following the 2002 season, Bluem saw a pair of his players, Jake Traeger and Andy Rosenband, selected in the 2003 Major League Soccer Super Draft. In 2004, Bluem saw two additional players, Justin Cook and Sammy Tamporello, drafted into MLS.

Bluem has taken his teams to the NCAA tournament nine times. He has six Coach of the Year honors and one Regional Coach of the Year honor to his credit.
