Crew Juniors Commitments and Expectations:
The Role of Crew Juniors Parents

A critical component in the overall success of the club is the respect and cooperation among parents, players, and coaches. Your child's progress and development will be influenced greatly by the quality of this relationship. Please carefully review the following Crew Juniors parental expectations:

  • Offer unconditional encouragement and support regardless of individual or team performance.
  • Realize that any excessive parental coaching or refereeing during a match is inappropriate and counterproductive. Profanity and/or negative comments - directed at Crew Juniors coaches/players, opposing players, referees, other parents, or fans - are not acceptable and will not be tolerated.
  • Support the Crew Juniors coaches and their decisions. Our staff is uniquely qualified to instruct and motivate young players, and will serve as excellent role models.
  • Realize that the Crew Juniors philosophy on player development revolves around advancing the potential of each player and creating complete soccer players. It is highly likely that your child will try many different positions during the course of the year.
  • Acknowledge and appreciate that the Crew Juniors are in alignment with US Soccer and its beliefs regarding priorities and proficiencies for each age group. We are committed to making proper decisions for our players within the club. Ranking systems are highly subjective at all age groups and take focus away from the players, their level of enjoyment, and their proper development.
  • Communicate through the team manager to arrange time to discuss issues with your coach privately. If a question or concern arises, match days are not acceptable times to address them. Parents are encouraged to attend training as often as they'd like. This provides an excellent way for parents to observe and learn from our staff.
  • With your participation in the Crew Juniors, you and your child are part of the Columbus Crew organization. We welcome you and are pleased to have you in our Crew Soccer Nation. Please recognize that the Crew Juniors are an affiliated brand and extension of the Columbus Crew and Major League Soccer. You represent us all.
